About Us
L. S. Hawkins was established in 1953 by my father Len. When I joined in 1972 after serving my apprenticeship with Plowright, Pratt & Harbage of Kings Lynn we became 'L.S. Hawkins & Son' and lately 'Hawkins Hardware'.
Our modern shop boasts over 10,000 sq.ft. of display area on two floors, with over 20,000 lines stocked - probably the largest independent store in town.
Our original description was 'agricutlural and builders' ironmongers' and this title still reflects the product ranges and main agencies held. Particularly Flogas bottled gas serving both agriculture and home.
Within the store we are able to offer several specialised departments.
As an official Hotpoint Centre we offer a wide variety of domestic appliances, freestanding as well as built in (see details on Products page). Our prices are competitive and we deliver free locally, often within 24 hours, taking away most old appliances (except refrigeration due to regulations). We also stock a wide range of small electrical items, such as kettles, toasters, etc.
Our hand tool and power tool section is second to none, with next day delivery on a huge catalogue of products not in stock.
I am particularly proud of our agricultural ironmongery section, and together with our security department you should find all your needs catered for.
We have an extensive DIY and decorating section complete with a Crown Paint mixing service.
Nuts and bolts, screws and nails can all be bought loose, just like in the old days.
The list is endless: roofing felt, wire netting and fencing wire are stocked in our outside yard.
Apart from electrical appliances we also stock cookware (mostly Horwood's Judge and Stellar ranges), bakeware and glass and china giftware (Aynsley, Galway and Bohemia Crystal).
Upstairs you will find bathroom fittings, general housewares and a huge selection of fireside goods.
Why not come along and browse? We look forward to seeing you!
